A critical element in the BI and Data Delivery process is a common repository that integrates and stores enterprise data – the enterprise data warehouse (EDW). An EDW environment has several components: an operational data store (ODS) that integrates data and contains the most granular, atomic level of data; a data warehouse that stores aggregated and summarized data and metrics; and data marts. The essence of an EDW is that all these components/repositories link together to provide complete, correct and consistent data. They all present the same single version of the truth.
These repositories need to be flexible, complete, and scalable to provide a solid foundation for expanding the use of integrated enterprise data in the future. In many companies, multiple data marts that work from different data sources have to be consolidated into a single data warehouse to provide a streamlined BI and Data Delivery infrastructure, improve the consistency of reports and information needed by the business, and provide new levels of data integration for the business.
RCG IT designs the data warehouse so that it provides easy, secure, and timely access to data independent of the data sources or platforms. RCG IT’s BI specialists understand the practices, techniques, and solutions that can be applied to the challenges of high-availability, high-performance environments. We evaluate such factors as component reliability, redundancy, data replication and distribution, security, change-control and much more before making our recommendations.
